CONUS Watch is designed and built by Quicksilver Industries LTD. This privacy policy explains how we handle information when you use the CONUS Watch weather radar web application.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

CONUS Watch is designed to be privacy-friendly. We collect minimal information:

No personal accounts: We do not require registration or login.
No tracking cookies: We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.
Local storage: Your display preferences (theme, opacity, radar product, map style) are stored locally on your device using browser localStorage. This data never leaves your device.
Geolocation: If you grant permission, your browser may share your location to center the radar map. This data is used only in your browser and is never sent to our servers.
Server logs: Our servers may log standard access information (IP address, user agent, request timestamps) for operational and security purposes. These logs are retained for no more than 30 days.

3. DATA SOURCES

CONUS Watch displays weather data from third-party public sources including:

NOAA NEXRAD — radar imagery via Iowa Environmental Mesonet
NOAA GOES — satellite imagery via Iowa Environmental Mesonet
National Weather Service (NWS) — forecasts, observations, alerts
OpenStreetMap — map tiles via CARTO
Nominatim — location search (OpenStreetMap)

We do not control or guarantee the accuracy of third-party data. Each source is subject to its own terms and privacy policies.

4. HOW WE USE INFORMATION

Any information collected is used solely to:

Serve the CONUS Watch application and its features
Maintain server security and uptime
Diagnose technical issues

We do not sell, share, or transfer personal information to third parties for marketing or any other purposes.

5. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

CONUS Watch loads resources from the following third-party services, which may collect standard web request information:

CARTO (basemap tiles) — carto.com/privacy
Iowa Environmental Mesonet (radar & satellite tiles)
unpkg.com (Leaflet library)
Nominatim/OpenStreetMap (search)

6. DATA SECURITY

We implement reasonable technical measures to protect the integrity and security of our servers. However, no internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

CONUS Watch is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

8. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
